For this reason, Tesla's FSD is of no use during the winter months.

The way people drive is changing drastically because of Tesla's Full Self Driving (FSD) technology.

Its performance in the snow and on icy roads falls short of ideal.

As the FSD sensors used by Tesla are unable to detect ice on the road or heavy snow accumulation,

using it during the winter months can be more hazardous than helpful.

While Tesla owners can disable FSD in bad weather,

doing so will prevent the car from using features like lane assist and traffic-aware cruise control.

For obvious reasons, it's not a good idea to use FSD when it's snowing out because of the risks involved in misreading the road ahead.
